On 14 September 2020, the NatHERS Steering Committee (the Energy Efficiency Advisory Team) agreed to the cessation of mandatory windows training for energy assessors.
The NatHERS Administrator is reviewing the requirement for NatHERS Assessors to undertake Australian Fenestration Rating Council (AFRC) training to access the Custom Window Library in NatHERS Software. A final decision will be released in September 2020.

The Home Energy Rating Optimisation (HERO) software tool has achieved NatHERS software accreditation to become the Scheme’s fourth accredited software tool.
NatHERS is being expanded in the future to offer nationally accredited Whole of Home tools. This means that future NatHERS Certificates could also provide information on the energy performance of the fixed appliances and the overall home.
Currently NatHERS provides an assessment and rating of a home’s thermal performance (building fabric), with star ratings based on information about the home’s design, construction materials and the climate where it is being built.
